Fire
Extinguishers
Fire Extinguisher requirements are specified
by Australian Standards AS2444. Compliance with these
requirements is extremely important.
All employers are required to provide a safe workplace,
including the correct type, size and location of Fire
Extinguishers, with the correct signage.
FIRE Extinguishers are designed to control a fire
quickly in its early stages before the fire is able to
develop and spread.
Quick action with the correct Fire Extinguisher could
save a life, and contain damage to property.
FIRE STOP’s Fire Extinguisher Selection Guide shows a
summary of common Extinguisher types, and the classes of
fire for which they are rated.
More specific information is available by clicking on
each Extinguisher type - Dry Chemical Powder, Carbon
Dioxide, Water, Foam, or Wet Chemical.

Australian Standards AS1851-2005 requires that all fire
protection equipment is inspected and maintained as
detailed in the relevant schedule, (often six monthly).
FIRE STOP can automatically provide this service for
you, to ensure your continued compliance. On the basis
of these required inspections, an Annual Fire Safety
Statement can be provided.
